15 Mar (Sat): Birdwatching at Lorong Halus

Open to the Public - Registration Needed

To celebrate 2014 World Water Day in collaboration with PUB, NSS Bird Group is conducting a birdwatching walk at Lorong Halus Wetland for the public.

This walk will start at the Punggol Promenade. For years, Little Grebes have made their home at Lorong Halus, an old rubbish dump site. Grassland birds like Yellow-bellied Prinias, Munias, Baya Weavers, Long-tailed Shrikes and more thrive here. In 2011, PUB completed works to create 'Lorong Halus Wetland' to help purify water that flows through the dump site. Jimmy Lee and other guides from the Society will introduce these birds and more during the walk.

Open to the public but registration required on the NSS website before 3 Mar 2014. Total group size is limited to 60 for the walk and individual or group registrations will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. Registration is subject to confirmation.

Time: 7.30 - 11.30am
Venue: Meet at 7.30am beside the Popeye Restaurant at Tebing Lane off Punggol East. You can take the MRT to Punggol station and transfer to the LRT. Alight at Riviera LRT station and walk towards the meeting point.
