22 May (Wed): Talk and Discussion on the URA’s Landuse Plan for 2030

Open to the public.

In conjunction with the Population White Paper that projects the growth of Singapore’s population to 6.9 million by 2030, the government has laid down the land-use plan to accommodate the infrastructure that caters to this growth. This plan has drastic impact on the unprotected greenery and undeveloped areas that are extant in Singapore, some of which are well known to be rich in biodiversity.

This talk by Dr Ho Hua Chew, Vice Chair of the Conservation Committee will focus on the ecological consequences in terms of the threat to natural habitats and wildlife. This will be followed by a discussion with participants pertaining to strategies and action plans that could mitigate the impact and/or save these areas.
