23 Jan (Wed): Talk about Community Conserved Areas

Community Conserved Areas (CCAs) can be defined as natural and modified ecosystems with significant biodiversity, ecological and related cultural values, voluntarily conserved by indigenous peoples and local communities through customary laws or other effective means. Join us for this sharing session on CCAs by Vilma D'Rozario who attended the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity Regional Workshop on CCAs in Palawan, Philippines, last November. Vilma will share what she learnt at the workshop and her experience visiting the stunningly beautiful island of Coron and the indigenous Tagbanwa people who manage it as a CCA. What may be the benefits of CCAs and how may we apply this concept to the Singapore context?

All are welcome.
